Mechanical properties of aluminium alloy 6082-T6 plate and butt weld joint: Experimental test, numerical modelling and application

Abstract Aluminium alloy has high mechanical properties and is widely used in manufacturing vehicles to reduce weight. This paper describes an experimental numerical study of the aluminium 6082-T6 plates butt weld joints. Experiments were conducted on three joint specimens, then stress-strain curves obtained analyzed. Finite element (FE) models developed validated against test results. Based data, application strength analysis electrical commercial truck frame with using finite method was illustrated. The results show that compared base metal, tensile significantly reduced since welding heat affected zone became a weak part joint. case FE can be performed based performances this study.
